New Coach Mike McWha

Markham Aquatic Club Head Coach, Brian Lindsay, is pleased to announce that Mike McWha, currently Head Age Group Coach with the Scarborough Swim Club, will join the MAC Family in August 2010.   Mike has been coaching in Scarborough for the past four years.  Previously he was a member of the Windsor West Swim Team Coaching Staff.

Mike brings a very comprehensive background in swimming to our Coaching Staff.  He will be in charge of the Regional-Provincial Squads and overseeing the Age Group Development Program.  He will take a leadership role in the expansion of our land training program throughout the Club.

Mike was a member of 2000 Canadian Olympic Swimming Team and of the 1998 Canadian Commonwealth Games Swimming Team.  While attending the University of Michigan, he was the member of the University of Michigan Swimming and Diving Team from 1996-2000 and was captain of the team in 1999-2000 swim season.   In addition he was All American and 4-time Honourable Mention All America.  He was 7-time Canadian National Swimming Champion and member of Canadian National Swimming Team between 1995-2001.

Mike has a Masters of Human Kinetics from the University of Windsor and Bachelor of Science, Movement Science, Division of Kinesiology, from the University of Michigan. His first duties with the Club will be assisting summer staff with the delivery of the MAC Summer Camp, Session 4.
